Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, also known as Ari Lennox, a Washington, D.C.-based American singer/songwriter, was signed as the label's first female artist with Dreamville Records by J. Cole. In October 2016 Ari Lennox debuted her Pho EP. The EP was where she received recognition. Shea Butter Baby released her first studio album on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox uploaded her songs online in 2012, when she dropped her Five Finger Discount mixtape and Ariography EP in 2013. In 2014 she continued to release her music on the internet, including her self release single Bound. The song Sweat it included on Omen's Elephant Eyes album which dropped on July 21, 2015. J. Cole asked her to join him in collaboration for Rihanna's reference. Then, later in the season, the music circulated throughout Dreamville. The official signing ceremony was held by Dreamville Records on 8 December. On the release album Revenge of the Dreamers II which she was featured on, she sang the song Backseat along with Cozz. In October 21st, 2016 the debut EP of Ari Lennox was released, titled Pho. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's hit song Change and performed as an opening act on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in 2017. She also appeared as a guest on two tracks, including the EarthGang's Nothing but the Best song and Bas's Icarus. Ari Lennox's first album Shea Butter Baby was released on 16 July 2018. The first single, Whipped Cream, from the album dropped on September 5, 2018 with a music video. The 9th of November saw her release two singles titled 40 Shades of Choke and Grampa. The 13th of November, she dropped two singles titled No One or Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby was released on her debut single, February 26, 2019, for the album Creed II. Shea Butter Baby performed with Cole in The Creed II sound track on the 16th of November. This track, which was launched with a music video posted on YouTube 20 February 2019 was watched more than three million times over the first seven days. As a support act, she toured with 6LACK in December of 2018 for The From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
